Dear Colleagues,
As a member of IASCE you receive three issues of our newsletter each year. In every issue we strive to provide you with timely articles, book reviews, and brief abstracts of recent presentations and articles related to cooperation in education. This, our final IASCE issue for 2000, has been produced in collaboration with The Journal for Cooperation and Collaboration in College Teaching.
A healthy cross-fertilization among different levels of education is part of the tradition of cooperative learning, and as part of this tradition, IASCE has entered into collaboration with this new journal. We are very excited that IASCE will be a featured contributor to the journal and that members of the IASCE board will serve on the editorial board as well. As the journal will focus primarily on issues related to collaboration that are of particular concern to higher education faculty and administration, the primary focus of the IASCE contributions to the journal will be on works that seem particularly relevant to higher education. A special thanks to Barbara Millis, our colleague at the United States Air Force Academy and the editor of the journal, for helping to make this new journal, and our collaboration, possible.
We hope you enjoy this issue of the journal and are as pleased with this new collaborative effort as are we. For those interested in continuing to receive the journal, New Forums Press is offering IASCE members a substantial subscription discount.
The next "regular" IASCE Newsletter will arrive in your mailbox in spring 2001. We hope you continue to view it as a chance to be inspired by, and learn from, the exciting things that are happening in our field. Please remember to email George Jacobs at gmjacobs@pacific.net.sg with items that you think would be appropriate to include either in the IASCE newsletter or in our new column in The Journal of Cooperation and Collaboration in College Teaching.
Best wishes for a healthy and collaborative 2001,
Lynda Baloche and Celeste Brody
Co-presidents of IASCE
